British Advertising Association Appoints New Chief Executive ^REG

The Advertising Association (AA) announced that its new Chief Executive and Director-General will be Peta Buscombe.

Peta Buscombe's appointment follows the retirement, after thirteen years, of Andrew Brown, who steps down at the end of the year. Ms. Buscombe will take up office in January 2007. She is currently the Shadow Minister in the Lords for Education and Skills, but will step down from the Front Bench before the end of the year.

Trained as a lawyer and called to the Bar she practised law commercially in both London and New York before becoming a Legal Advisor to the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA). From 2002-2005 she was the Opposition Spokesman in the House of Lords for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), having previously been Spokesman for Trade and Industry. She is also a Founder member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Corporate Social Responsibility and a Patron of the Westminster Media Forum.
